Anything goes – and the bigger and faster the better really!
Formula Libre means Free Formula and this is what the class is all about – a series that aims to bring together a whole host of seriously fast single seater and sports racing cars – from F5000 Lolas and McRaes to modern Juno sports prototypes and everything in between.
When Formula Libre runs with the NZRDL, you can expect to see the best of modern mix it with the best of historic.
League Libre races are open to any single seater race car including Formula 5000, Formula One (Pre 1978), F2, F3, Formula Suzuki, Toyota Race Series, Formula Atlantic, Formula Pacific, IndyCar, Indy Lights and Formula Holden.
It’s also open to any sportscar, including prototypes originally destined for tracks like Daytona or Le Mans, contemporary racing sports cars such as models from Juno, Radical and Ligier, as well cars such as Sakers and Lotus 7 inspired makes like Fraser, Caterham and Chevron. Home built ‘specials’ showcasing NZ engineering and ingenuity are also eligible, as are CanAm and TransAm cars.
